The school provides a Tikanga class option for parents. Parents are requested to express there interest. There is a selection process for this composite year 7 & 8 class. The class offers some bilingual component, has a focus on Tikanga Maori and helping students understand their heritage and New Zealand's heritage. This class is open for application from all ethnic groups.
Mau Rakau and Kapa Haka are offered to all students, Students in the Tikanga class are required to attend.
Tikanga and Te Reo Maori is recognised and valued in all classes, however there is variation in the level of understanding and skill of each teacher in Te Reo.
Manning Intermediate recognises and values the dual heritage of New Zealand and the increasing cultural diversity of the community. This is evident in the way we do things and in the environment we have developed.
