At Manning Intermediate we aim to assist familes to grow children into young adults who reflect core community values, can work effectively with others and achieve high academic standards.

Students from outside New Zealand form an important part of our school. We welcome students from a variety of cultures as they add to our school community and help broaden the horizons of our students. Christchurch is seen as a safe place for children to come for their education, with quality schools and community resources available to support most interests.

Manning Intermediate is a school for 10-13 year old girls and boys.  It is set in a park like setting with recreational areas and outdoor sports facilities.

Manning Intermediate welcomes international student enrolments.

Parents can expect their children will:
  • be placed in our quality English program specialized for international students
  • have daily opportunities to speak conversational English with their NZ peers 
  • receive support and care from an effective pastoral care teamgain skills in Computing, Art, Music, Food Science, Fabric Technology, Wood and Metal work. These specialist subjects are available to students during the course of the year
  • be taught subjects that are part of the NZ curriculum by skillful and qualified teachers
  • have the use of modern facilities and equipment enjoy opportunities for diverse cultural and sporting activities gain lifelong friendships and memories
  • work together with supportive teachers, staff and students to enjoy their time and gain the most from their experience at Manning Intermediate
  • Manning Intermediate School is approved by the Ministry of Education to provide programmes for International Fee paying students.

Code of Practice for pastoral care of international students
Manning Intermediate School has agreed to observe and be bound by the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students published by the Minister of Education. Immigration

Eligibility for Health services
Most international students are not entitled to publicly funded health services while in New Zealand. If you receive medical treatment during your visit, you may be liable for the full cost of this treatment. Full details on entitlements to publicly funded health services are available through the Ministry of Health, and can be viewed on their website at www.moh.govt.nz
Accident Insurance
The Accident Compensation Corporation provides accident insurance for all New Zealand citizens, residents and temporary visitors to New Zealand, but you may still be liable for all medical and related costs. Further information can be viewed on the ACC website at www.acc.co.nz
Medical and Travel Insurance
International students must have appropriate and current medical and travel insurance while studying in New Zealand
 
New Zealand Immigration requirements must be completed prior to enrolment.  The school is able to provide support in this process.
