2010 – 2019

2010 September 4. A significant earthquake damages parts of Christchurch. The school suffered minimal damage and hosted year 7 and 8 classes from Halswell Primary School for a four week period as their school was made safe and temporary buildings installed on their site.

2011, February 17. A Pou Whenua (a three piece carved post, to strengthen the link between theschool and the community was installed as part of the new administration building. Carved at the Whakaraupo Carving Centre, Lyttleton. The Pou has yet to be named, it is expected that this naming will occur during the opening of the new hall.


2011, February 22. A significant Earthquake destroyed parts of Christchurch closing all schools. Manning Intermediate had considerable silt from liquifaction throughout the ground floor of the main block, art room and the library. Silt volcanoes covered sections of the playing fields and large areas of ashpalt were also lifted by the liquifaction.
As the result of a civil defense state of emergency and emergency repairs to the school, the school was closed from the February 23 to March 15.
